Through nearly two decades of rebrands, web designs, and campaign development, our partnership with Denver Film has flourished. Without fail, our work together represents some of our most anticipated projects each year. Film on the Rocks is no different — a one-of-a-kind outdoor movie experience perfect for all ages. Each year, we’re tasked with developing a visual and narrative theme that extends to posters, digital ads, merch, and more.
Let’s take a look at some of the work and results from almost 20 years of celebrating cinema and making the most of one of our state’s most iconic places.
Film begs us to question everything. It forces us to place ourselves in someone else’s story, to picture what our lives might look like if things had been different, or what our lives might look like if we made a change. It’s a void of creativity, an altered state, a cinematic escape. In 2025, we asked audiences to buckle up and get ready for the trip of a lifetime. Are we humans watching movies? Or are we in one?

Drawing on desert mysticism and the idea that visiting Red Rocks is a mandatory pilgrimage — a rite of passage — for Coloradans and visitors alike, this concept celebrated the mystical aura of the rocks and the magnetic pull of movie magic. With headlines like “Ignite Your Fantasy” and “Where Reality Melts and Dreams are Felt”, the messaging took on an almost psychedelic feel, inviting audiences to illuminate their senses with the energy of the big screen.
We went to the root of Film on the Rocks for this concept. Typically, this movie event features films of the past, making us nostalgic for our childhoods or the stories we heard at certain points in our lives — from Star Wars to Dirty Dancing. So we went to the past for inspiration, the 70s to be exact. Our team worked together to draft designs and ads with the 70s in mind, and a message for all to hear: No matter what you’re going through, good times or bad, maybe, just maybe, all you need is film.
2022 marked the return to “in-person” screenings at Red Rocks after 2 years of drive-in screenings due to COVID. Anticipating communal events evoked fond memories of movie experiences, which pushed us to embrace a classic, old-school sci-fi approach blended with playful colors to heighten the camp and inviting feeling. The bubbly palette and cutesy alien character brought back the energy of Film on the Rocks in a big way.
It’ll come as no surprise that Denver Film did not host Film on the Rocks as usual during the summer of 2021. While we were continuing to keep a safe distance from those around us, organizers got creative. Rather than hosting Film on the Rocks five or six times during the course of the summer, Red Rocks opened a drive-in theater that welcomed movie-goers 4 days a week. Our materials focused on the drive-in aspect and drove audiences to check the schedule online.
As creative partners, we’re not just working behind the scenes to craft compelling campaigns and eye-catching creative each year. We’re also front-and-center documenting the community, event, and sponsors! Capturing candid moments and snapping shots of movie-goers and organizers alike helps entice more people to attend the next showing and highlights the value of Film on the Rocks to local businesses and brands. Plus, it means we get to attend every movie, which we’ll never say no to!
