Despite our most recent annual party, we have reason to believe that the world will not, in fact, end on December 21. So we’re on the cusp of a new year once more, trying to kick it off in the best way possible: by sharing some amazing calendars to get you on track.
This 24″x18″ poster takes a minimal approach to the calendar, presenting each month as a simple line of dates that’s offset by days of the week. It’s a simple presentation that uses minimalist precepts of design to great effect. And if you’re not too attached to the fantastic letterpress production quality, there’s plenty of negative space to highlight days and write in the margins.

This one comes from 12 battle-hardened designers who value presentation and craftsmanship above all else. Printed on heavy stock cards with an old, trustworthy letterpress, each month presents a fantastic design and pairs it with a simple calendar relegated to the bottom. Not the most innovative approach, but its production will leave you in awe.
The 12 Musketeers calendar is available for $20 from 12musketeers.com!
If you’re in the mood for something more customized, this puzzle calendar kit might be up your alley. You’ll get blocks for each day of the year, and have differently colored ones for special events. Because honestly, what better way to get familiar with the month than to literally build it yourself? We’re all for taking a break from the computer, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes per month.

Here’s a clever calendar that’s not even unique to 2013! “Monthly Measure” uses a centimeter-based ruler and pairs it with a rolling ball signifying the day of the week. Each month, just put the wheel back at 1 and you’re good to go! Now if only we could get one in Imperial instead of metric.
Monthly Measure costs 34 pounds over at Sebastian Berge’s site.
Last, but not least, we have a free PDF that you can simply print and start marking up. It’s simple, straightforward, and effective.
