By now you must know what placemaking is, if not, you can check out our previous insight for more information about the term and why we think it is important. But just to recap:
Now the question is, how do you even begin to implement placemaking into your development project, and what’s important to keep in mind when getting started?
After years working in verticals where we’ve implemented placemaking, and through the research we gathered in our placemaking report, we’ve realized that at the start of your development project, there are three key action items you should make sure you are doing.
Discover the power of putting people first, and let it change the way you approach your property development project. You’re one step away from the keys to success.
A shared vision is the culmination of what the development will look like, feel like, and what it will mean for the community, so it is important to get everyone on the same page from the start. With everyone — architects, construction managers, branding agencies (that’s us!) — working together toward the same goal, the success level of the project is significantly higher.
In order for placemaking to work from start to finish, and for the vision to guide the entire project, everyone related to the project should be on the same page from day one. As architectural and branding decisions get made, the two processes should influence each other equally — the success of this is only achieved through early alignment, after all, we’re all on the same team, aren’t we?
Here’s a simple question you can ask yourself: What do the people want? If you know what your target audience wants, then you’ll have the knowledge to make decisions, down to the smallest details, that will attract them, make them happy, and make them feel heard.
Well, that wasn’t quite all of the information we have on the key’s of placemaking. We did a bit (maybe a lot) of research and conducted studies within each of these essential keys. We found out a lot of valuable information that will help you as you embark on your placemaking journey. If you want to learn more about the results of the study, and receive more in-depth explanations as to the importance of these keys, check out our full report here.
